An Afternoon in Kurashiki

Kurashiki on a Monday turns out to be an ideal time to spend an afternoon visiting, mainly because, since a number of the small museums in town are closed, fewer busloads of tourists arrive on Monday than on any other das of the week.

Consequently we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Even better, both the Ohara Museum of Art and the Traditional Japanese Toy Museum were opened; they are the two best in town, so we didn’t really miss much, Plus we all had plenty of additional time to shop!

Lee’s “find of the day”, indeed his find of the entire trip, turned up at the gift shop attached to the toy museum. Here he stumbled upon a small two fold screen depicting (Are you ready for this?) thirty-two RAKAN! Actually there are more like thirty-seven figures pictured, but who’s counting?

Here we are, then: our new blog logo!
